Dragon Music Sundays
A free, intimate concert held on Sundays in late May and early June. Nationally-known music artists with Hillsboro-West End roots play a free event in the park. Openers are the locally renowned Metro Parks Music teen musicians, Centennial jamBands.
Summer 2019 Lineup of Bands
May 19: The Rainsticks
An indie/psych/pop group with layered harmonies, Rainsticks is fronted by Asher Horton, a graduate of the Centennial Jam Band program. Echoes of the Beatles and the Beachboys abound in this creative mixture of ’60s and ’70s styles.
May 26: Anne McCue
Australian by birth, this guitar-slinging singer/songwriter/producer is a female triple threat (with 7 CDs to her credit) who delivers a gutsy hybrid of rock, blues and Americana. She is also the host of the radio show “Songs on the Wire” on WXNA, one of Dragon Music Sunday’s newest sponsors.
June 2: Jake Leg Stompers
Stradling the music of the past and present, Jake Leg Stompers take loud, chorus-driven acoustic grooves to new heights with their versions of old-time party songs, dirty blues classics and juke-joint covers.
June 9, 4:00 p.m.: Centennial jamBand
5:00 p.m.: Paul Burch
Paul Burch is an artistic pioneer giving a modern voice to American roots music. For more than two decades he has combined an indie rock ethos with his personal vision of seminal country. Burch’s music lifts us up and deeply intensifies the human spirit.
